We named these fabulous single strand bling necklaces Moroto, a beautiful city in eastern Uganda. This is a signature, statement necklace thst is still casual.
These fabulous necklaces are made from chunky paper beads made from magazine paper! In between the chunky beads are smaller paper beads in turqoise and white colors. The largest chunky beads are just about an inch. There are 11.
The paperbeads for these necklaces are made from recycled magazines, no two are exactly alike. The paperbeads have been made from strips of paper, rolled tightly and then varnished 5 times for durability before being strung into a necklace. This is a very time consuming process. But, it is like making something beautiful from nothing.
There are gold tone seed beads around the twist clasp at the back of the necklace.
The length of each necklace is just about 10-12 inches.
These are handmade by our team of women artisans in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. No two necklaces are exactly alike.
