We named these darling, simple to wear single strand necklaces Kimuli which means flower in Luganda (a local language in Uganda). But, there are no flowers in this necklace. Instead you have a darling 7 beaded star shaped pendant.
The paperbeads for these necklaces are made from recycled magazine paper, no two are exactly alike. The paperbeads have been made from thin strips of paper, rolled tightly and then varnished 5 times for durability before being strung into a necklace. This is a very time consuming process. But, it is like making something beautiful from nothing.
The pendants are made to match the necklace but the beads are larger measuring 6/8 of an inch. The diameter of the round pendant is just over 2 inches.
This necklace comes in 3 colors, a bright green, a cream/coral color and also a brown/gray color.
The seed beads in this necklace are gold tone. There is no clasp.
The length of each necklace is just about 16-17 inches.
These are handmade by our team of women artisans in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. No two necklaces are exactly alike.
