We named these fabulous chunky bling necklaces Arua, a beautiful city in Northern Uganda where we have family and friends. This is a signature, statement necklace. Very different from our other necklaces.
This layered design is one strand of beads that splits into three.
These fabulous necklaces are made from paper beads that have been painted turquoise and bluish gray and have added splashes of gold! A really terrific look, a lot of bling and just beautiful. The largest beads at the bottom or front of the necklace is just about 3/4 of an inch.
This layered multi strand necklace is all in one color combination where the beads are in turquoise, blue and with lots of splashes of shimmering metallic gold paint - total glam! The beads in each strand have different shaped beads including one strand of just seed beads.
The paperbeads for these necklaces are made from recycled magazines, no two are exactly alike. The paperbeads have been made from strips of paper, rolled tightly and then varnished 5 times for durability and painted before being strung into a necklace. This is a very time consuming process. But, it is like making something beautiful from nothing.
There is a bronze tone push through clasp.
The length of each necklace is just about 11-12 inches.
These are handmade by our team of women artisans in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. No two necklaces are exactly alike.
